Winter Morn

The dark was all pervasive
With cold lurking
On the other side of
The frosty pane

Snuggled under quilts
Like a rabbit In a hole
Who didn’t want fur to freeze
Seemed a reason
To stay in the underground depths
But thoughts of a fire,
The sunrise from my kitchen window
And hot coffee in a mug
Put my bare feet on the floor
To slowly walk into
The winter morn
